I am sad to share I was laid off from work on December 3.
From Our Commitment to Your Ongoing Success with Discourse…
We’re making some organizational changes and we want to be direct with you about our plans.
Like many technology companies navigating the market conditions of the past year, we’re adjusting our cost structure to ensure long-term sustainability. We’re managing discretionary spending more carefully and focusing our resources on the areas that matter most to our customers.
As a part of that adjustment and our renewed product focus, we’re saying goodbye to some of our talented colleagues and team members. These decisions are difficult but necessary to align our expenses and our resources, and build a stronger foundation for Discourse.
How’s it going?
It’s going.
I’ve been focusing on rest; there are many ways to greet sudden change, and I’ve learned it is best to do so well-rested. ![]()
What’s next?
Still figuring that out. There are a surprising number of details to handle when one stops working at a remote technology job, and I’ve been addressing those.
Soon I will be connecting.
Shall we connect?
Of course! Here is some guidance to get started.
Friends! Please contact me with words of encouragement. My email is maiki@interi.org. This ensures I have your contact info, and we can stay in contact. That’s really important to me! ![]()
Friends nearby! Same as above, but offer to go for a long walk with me or to buy me a drink of my choice at a venue of your choice.
Colleagues and coworkers throughout the ages! Please be on the lookout, as I may be joining a relevant work-job-centric network near you. I intend to use this as an opportunity to create a really great work profile. I will not claim to understand how they operate exactly; I do understand my own motivations, and I can work with that.
Hiring parties! Do you have a remote technology job or consulting gig offer? Need a Discourse Expert because the challenge is too weird for everyone else? Ever had the chance to work with a curious and kind ethical technologist with too much experience and never enough knowledge? Whaaat, really?! Please send me a message, maiki@interi.org. I would like to hear about it!
Enemies, speculative or otherwise! Ha, this is not the setback you imagine it to be! By all accounts, I am stronger than ever. Stumbled a bit, yes. Yet I shall find my footing sure enough. Please do not get involved, but if you ever have a change of heart, ya know, maiki@interi.org.
Love, maiki
