love and collaboration

A happy new administrative year to build a knowledge engine powered by love and collaboration. Also, recovery mode and new friendletters.

happy new year

Using the new year as a marker of sorts is the path of least resistance—culturally, economically, and spiritually.

For me, it is mostly administrative in nature. I’m always building something, and sometimes it takes hours, days, weeks, months, and then also years.

I think many people use this time to reflect, but I don’t do yearly reflections. It’s not useful to my knowledge work. Reflection is done in an amount of time that is closer to daily or weekly. And then again, when some distance from the events have provided clarity. Taken together, I don’t feel compelled to reflect on a year.

Instead, I feel lightened that year-long experiments may begin again! I only have so many year-long experiment slots in my schedule, and now is the time to plan what can be done during this time. :tada:

recovery mode

Several weeks ago, I injured my intercostal muscles. I am mostly recovered, tho I still wake up stiff and not as rested. It has been rough.

I used the winter holidays to rest and recover.

I’m starting to do consistent stretching again, and it helps tremendously! Soon I think I will be interested in socializing again; it’s kinda hard to be around people when the slightest bump feels like a stab in your ribs.

writing the letters

One experiment I had been waiting for: writing personal updates in public.

Years ago, I published everything online, in the open. The winds of the internet changed, and I decided to switch to primarily writing in personal and/or private spaces. This has been a great success!

However, I often find it difficult to communicate with different groups because of these private platforms. I benefit from having a public web space to share stuff.

And so, I’ve decided to create these friendletters and share them in those personal spaces. And of course, they will also be available to anyone on the web.

love and collaboration

I have so much to share in these letters! Because I’m building a knowledge engine, and it is inspired and empowered by love and collaboration.

That will be what these letters are about: love, collaboration, knowledge, and maiki.
